I help clients in the first few sessions to identify what they want to work on; whether that's a deeper self-understanding, better patience with their kids or coworkers, or more optimism and self-confidence. I work with clients to reduce anxiety, increase self-trust, and move forward from trauma, among other goals.
Our therapy sessions will be warm and friendly. I am both gentle and direct; I don't want to waste your time and I will provide my honest opinion on how we can use therapy to reach your goals. I use a blend of insight-based and somatic-based interventions to help clients better understand and manage symptoms of worry, overwhelm, and sadness. Clients report that our sessions often feel easygoing, like a conversation.
I am trained in EMDR and work with many clients that have troubling memories or tiresome patterns of behavior. I work both with clients that have endured single-event traumas, like accidents, or experienced ongoing trauma. Many clients report a feeling of lightness or relief after EMDR; it is a rigorously well-researched approach.
